His part about telling stories is so true. That is such a powerful tool. Instead of hearing all the ones in the media, people get numb to that but when it is more personal from a friend, etc - that can really change people and their narrative. That influence is powerful.

Please oh please tell me that you can get stronger than you used to be by doing less than the rest of the people around you do. Please oh please tell me that you somehow can mind your own business when you are not minding your business. Please oh please tell me that you judges and cops, and government workers go home on their days off and make a special effort to not do their job duties, also known as not minding their business, for the entire time they take off "work." Please oh please tell that you white people remember that you can't mind your business if you make it your business to not mind your business. You have to right your own wrongs dear white people, you have to clean your own asses. It is time.

This video is the most accurate reflection of SJCC. It reminds current / former students why they were able to see success in their future and highlights the single most important factor responsible for students realizing their own dreams; the instructors and faculty/staff. Once a student realizes their own dreams these same instructors and faculty support staff help students cultivate it into becoming a reality. It's an incredible experience for any individual to see realized. For most, it will be a short chapter in your life but it will be the most life defining chapter of your life. Many of us have wasted so much precious time without goals that motivate us. Time spent at SJCC makes you feel like your life has purpose and you have goals that are obtainable and achievable so stop wasting time and achieve them already! SJCC instructors and faculty see so much more in the students they serve than society see when they are looking. It's a nurturing environment. We cannot ask for anything more.
